IRCC Makes History with French-Language Category Express Entry Draw

On July 7, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada carried out its inaugural category-specific Express Entry draw for the French-Language Proficiency category. This draw, officially known as Express Entry Draw #256, extended invitations to a total of 2,300 candidates who met the specific criteria for this distinct category.

  1. Invitations issued: 2,300

  2. Minimum rank required to receive an invitation: 2,300 or higher

  3. Draw category: French Language Proficiency (2023-1)

  4. Date and time of the draw: July 7, 2023, 13:11:16 UTC

  5. Lowest CRS score among invited candidates: 439

  6. Tie-breaking rule: January 20, 2023

Importance of French Language When Applying for Canada PR

The recent French-Language Proficiency category draw was part of a series of Express Entry draws conducted by IRCC in the past few weeks. In just the last two weeks, an impressive total of 9,800 candidates were invited to apply for immigration to Canada through the Express Entry system.
